What problems can general dentistry address?

General dentistry can help you if you suffer from:

Toothache

Bleeding gums

Bad breath

Sensitive teeth

Plaque & tartar

Low confidence in your smile

At a glance:

  • Dental check-ups, fillings, X-rays, hygiene appointments and more
  • Welcoming families and patients of all ages

It is easy to take your teeth for granted until something goes wrong. But when you experience a dental problem, Allsopp Dental is here to help.

We offer a comprehensive range of general dental services to help you and your family have healthy smiles for a lifetime.

Mr Allsopp and his team were wonderful. I was a very nervous patient and they put me at easy.

I am over the moon with my teeth and would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you so much

Dental check-ups

Are you experiencing dental pain? Do you have sore gums, bad breath or some other dental health complaint?

Plan a visit to Allsopp Dental where one of our highly skilled dental professionals will examine your teeth and gums and recommend treatment.

A professional dental check-up is the perfect opportunity to find out what your oral health is like and to discuss your questions and concerns with a dentist.

Dental imaging

Our range of dental imaging equipment includes:

Bitewing X-rays

Bitewings and other dental X-rays allow dentists like Dr Allsopp to check for decay in your teeth. They can also reveal the condition of the bone around your teeth.

OPG (orthopantomogram) X-rays

These images create a panoramic map of your jaw and are useful for evaluating wisdom teeth.

CBCT (cone-beam computed tomography) X-rays

CBCT is a three-dimensional radiographic technology used in checking the nerves, bone and other structures in your jaw. It’s especially helpful when planning to place dental implants

iTero digital scanning

Many dental treatments require a mould of your teeth. Instead of taking a messy impression, we can create a ‘digital’ mould using our digital scanner.

Dental hygiene

Brighten your teeth and freshen your breath with a professional scale, clean and polish with our hygienist. A dental cleaning is about more than just making your smile look better, however. Regular hygiene appointments keep your gums healthy by removing plaque and tartar buildup.

Dental fillings

We hope to prevent tooth decay with regular dental check-ups and cleans. If a cavity develops, though, we will fill your tooth to stop the decay from spreading. Conservative fillings here at Allsopp Dental can keep your teeth strong and healthy.

Common questions about general dentistry

  • How often should I have my teeth cleaned?

Dental professionals recommend having a dental checkup and clean twice per year. Some people need a cleaning more often than once every six months, however. If you suffer from gum disease or have excess tartar buildup, then you may need to have three or four cleans each year.

  • Does it hurt to get a filing?

It does not hurt to get a filling. Our dentist will numb your tooth with some local anaesthetic before drilling away the decayed area. You may experience a little sensitivity for a day as your tooth adjusts to the filling, but nothing more than that. If dental treatment makes you nervous, then we can offer some dental sedation to help you relax.

  • Why are dental X-rays important?

X-rays are the only way dentists can see inside your teeth without opening them up. X-rays help dentists identify cavities and other potential problems to treat them before they get worse.

  • Why should I see a dentist regularly?

Regular dental visits will help you keep your teeth and gums healthy and minimise your need for treatments like dental crowns.
